Sir Alex Ferguson has sensationally revealed that he considered a move for Mario Balotelli before the striker joined Manchester City in 2010.
Speaking at the launch of his new book, Leading, on Monday evening, the former Manchester United boss told the audience that he eventually decided it was too much of a risk.
“In 2010, I briefly flirted with the idea of signing Mario Balotelli, the talented but controversial Italian striker,” said Ferguson.
“I did my homework on him, speaking to a few Italian contacts, but the feedback I got confirmed it was too big a risk.”
This must be the first time that Ferguson and Liverpool fans have ever agreed.
