Guess who’s back in the big time
Sheffield United have been promoted to the Premier League after beating already relegated Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Scott Hogan opened the scoring after just 24 minutes before Jack O’Connell made it 2-0 in the second half to confirm the Blades’ return to top flight football after a 12 year wait.
Chris Wilder’s side became the first team to secure promotion from the Championship this season, but Norwich play later today and will most likely wrap up automatic promotion as well with just a point needed against Blackburn Rovers.
Slightly further down the table, the play-off spots look likely to be taken by Leeds United, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and one of Derby County or Bristol City.
Should Leeds finish 3rd and Derby finish 6th, we will be set for a two-legged repeat of the fixture that underpinned the Spygate scandal, when Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa sent a spy down to Derby County’s training ground to gather information on their match preparation.
