Shane Duffy has joined Brighton and Hove Alibion from Blackburn Rovers for a fee understood to be in the region of £4m.
The Republic of Ireland defender moved to Ewood Park from Everton two years ago, and made 69 appearances for the Championship team.
However, he recently turned down a new deal at Blackburn, the day before scoring two own-goals and getting sent-off in a game, and had been linked with a move away for most of the summer.
The 24-year-old will be available for Brighton’s game at Newcastle United on Saturday, and has signed a four year deal with the club.

“I’m delighted that our perseverance has finally paid off and we’ve completed the signing of Shane; he’s an excellent addition for us,” Brighton manager Chris Hughton told the club’s website.
“He has a lot of experience for his age, having played in the Premier League, Championship, Europa League and international football for Ireland.
“He’s a very good defender, and alongside our existing options he now gives me four quality, senior options for the two central defensive positions.”
