Modern footballers, huh?
Mercenaries, detached from fans, never displaying the passion that fans love, never connecting with those supporters, treating social media like as one big sales pitch.
Against all this we give you Shane Duffy.
The big Derry man is a big breath of fresh air. He fought back from a potentially fatal injury to star at Euro 2016, he fought back from a horrendous run at Blackburn to score a crucial goal, he secured a move to Brighton and, brilliantly, celebrated like Marco Tardelli when he scored against his old club.
The Derry native is his own man and, on a dreary Monday morning in December, he brightened up everyone’s day by just being unbelievably sound on Twitter.
When a fan makes an ambitious request, tweet something like this….
Would love a night out with Shane Duffy

When a fan makes a slightly more reasonable request, tweet something like this.
@ShaneDuffy34 please jump in the away end at Fulham if we score, would be the stuff of dreams

Do you have any dreams that Shane Duffy can make come true?
Now is the time to ask, one of Ireland’s soundest internationals is handing out some early Christmas presents.
