We can imagine the thought of facing Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Andreas Iniesta would make anyone feel a little queasy.

But unfortunately for Sevilla, some of their players tummies are a little bit sick for another entirely unrelated reason.

According to The Telegraph the club, who are facing the European Champions Barcelona in the Super Cup tonight, are without three players due to a dose of salmonella picked up from a BBQ on Sunday.

“Timothée Kolodziejczak and Adil Rami were unable to train properly on Monday, having picked up stomach bugs (thought to be salmonella) after a barbecue involving the players and summer signing Steven Nzonzi went very wrong.”

The results of not putting the food in the oven first and cremating it on the BBQ means the club are without any recognised centre-half backs for the game as Nicolas Pareja and Daniel Carrico are both recovering from injuries.

Although it could be worse. At least Neymar is out with mumps.
