And it looks like United have put themselves in a position of strength regarding the bid.
Knowing that Real Madrid are mad keen on David De Gea, Old Trafford chiefs are ready to use their Spanish goalkeeper as bait to prize the 29-year-old Ramos in the other direction.
The Guardian are reporting that United have turned down an initial bid believed to be in the region of 18 million euros for De Gea and that they are ready to hold their number one until they can agree a counter bid with Los Blancos.
