WATCH: Plaudits aplenty for Sean Maguire as he fires Cork City into FAI Cup final

On the double

Darragh Murphy

A second half double from Sean Maguire secured Cork City one half of the billing in the FAI Cup final.

A stunning header from the 22-year-old shortly after half-time gave the Rebels a 2-1 lead over St Pat’s on Sunday and a confident run resulted in his second of the game which guaranteed City a clash with either Dundalk or Derry City at the Aviva Stadium next month.

Maguire, who joined John Caulfield’s side late last year, carried his goalscoring exploits into the tie at Richmond Park and found the net for the 24th time this season.

City’s top scorer this term is in confident form and his showing against St Pat’s left plenty of supporters predicting a bright future for the Republic of Ireland U21 international.
