Seamus Coleman to take charge of Everton as Sean Dyche is sacked

SportsJOE

Coleman will manage the first team alongside Leighton Baines on a interim basis.

Sean Dyche has been dismissed as Everton manager, the club confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

Republic of Ireland and Everton captain Seamus Coleman has been placed in charge on an interim basis, alongside club legend Leighton Baines.

The pair will coach the team on Thursday evening as the Toffees take on Peterborough United on Thursday night.

In an official statement, Everton announced Dyche’s exit.

“Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect. Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.”

The former Burnley manager joined the club in January 2023. Everton have been under new ownership since The Friedkin Group completed their takeover in December.

The club stated that the search for a new manager has begun, promising updates in due course.

In the interim, Under-18s Head Coach Baines and club captain Coleman will oversee first-team responsibilities.

Dyche’s departure comes with Everton sitting 16th in the Premier League table, struggling to find consistent form in a challenging season.

This marks another managerial change for the Toffees, who have frequently shuffled their coaching staff in recent years amid ongoing battles against relegation.

Further details regarding Dyche’s dismissal and the club’s plans moving forward are expected to emerge in the coming days.
