If there was a gif that perfectly captures Ed Woodward’s current woes at Manchester United, this this must surely be it.

The Manchester United chief is running into trouble wherever he goes at the moment with fans unhappy with his handling of Louis Van Gaal’s position, while also criticising him for the club’s recent transfer policy and missing out on some of their intended targets.

The club have rejected reports that the Dutchman has been close to quitting over the weekend after the 1-0 loss to Southampton, but its seems that if he does goe, one man may also walk unless he is offered the top job.

The Mirror is reporting that Ryan Giggs, who previously took charge of first team affairs when David Moyes was sacked, will walk out of the club, unless he is offered the job if/when van Gaal is sacked.

The newspaper reports that there is a fear that Giggs, who has been at the club for 28 years, may walk-out unless he is given the job above other candidates such as Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.

Van Gaal remains in his position for now,  and returned from Holland on Tuesday to take charge of training ahead of the club’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Derby.
