He could have been managing Manchester United, but instead Ryan Giggs will be playing futsal in India.
The United legend recently left Old Trafford after 29 years at the club. Giggs had been working as Louis van Gaal’s assistant with a view to succeeding him as United manager, but was overlooked for the top role in favour of Jose Mourinho.
The 42-year-old was reportedly offered a youth-team coaching role at the club, but turned in down to branch out on his own and begin his managerial career.
However, Giggs move to the dugout will have to wait, as the Welshman is set to join his former teammate Paul Scholes for a stint in the Indian Futsal League.
Futsal is played indoors, with five players on each side, and for two 20 minute periods. The Indian league will get underway this month across eight cities in the country, and Luis Figo is president of the organisation.
Giggs and Scholes will be joined by famous names such as Ronaldinho, Deco and Hernan Crespo.
