Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim broke a TV screen in the dressing room during a furious post-match rant after Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford, according to reports.
Amorim, frustrated by his team’s seventh defeat in 15 games since his arrival in November from Sporting Lisbon, reportedly launched into a heated inquest, during which the tactical display screen was damaged.
According to The Athletic, the players remain supportive of the Portuguese coach but were taken aback by his furious reaction.
Amorim normally does not say anything to his players immediately after a match, preferring to stay silent and only speak about the game after he has analysed it.
His outburst is said to have resembled the infamous 'hairdryer' treatment frequently displayed by Man United legend Alex Ferguson.
In his post-match press conference, Amorim described the performance as “the worst maybe in the history of Manchester United,” citing a lack of tactical discipline.
“To help my players is to give them the tools to play in this way but then without training is really hard," he said.
"You can feel it in the end of the game, everybody was changing position and that is something I will not see again. We can lose but we have to maintain position."
Man United face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night at Old Trafford in their next game, ahead of a trip to face Fulham on Sunday.
