Roy Keane may not approve of Barcelona’s celebration photo, but he’ll appreciate one player’s sneaky message

To all the haters out there...

Roy Keane is not a fan of selfies, we established that some time ago.

In fact he finds them to be the very scourge of modern football – an unnecessary exercise in ego and self-congratulation by those pathetically satisfied by finite success. Where we see an expression of joy and a timeless capture of the afterglow of victory, Roy sees mediocrity wallowing in the recent past.

On the odd occasions when the man himself is asked to pose for a selfie with an excited fan and reluctantly agrees to it (against his better judgement), the results are unintentionally hilarious…

But surely he wouldn’t begrudge Barcelona a group snap (not a selfie) in the changing room after one of the greatest comebacks in the history of football? Of course he would. Despite their heroics against PSG, Keane still didn’t condone fun-having of any kind…

Although, such is his penchant for revenge and cursing, he will no doubt have appreciated Jeremy Mathieu’s pose for the celebratory photo. The Barca utility man is proud Frenchman from Luxeuil-les-Bains, and clearly has no great love for Ligue 1’s filthy rich Parisians.

The Sochaux and Toulouse alum’s hand gesture was perhaps also aimed at Real Madrid fans who were mocking Barca’s slim chances prior to the game – even Keano can appreciate that…
