Roy Keane has revealed that he believes that Tim Sherwood was touting himself for the Aston Villa manager's job weeks before Paul Lambert was sacked.
Villa parted company with Lambert in February after a disastrous run of form which saw the club fall into the relegation zone.
But Keane, reveals in an updated version of his autobiography that he saw Sherwood at a Villa Park during a FA Cup tie against Bournemouth in January.
Keane had already left the club at that point, having left his role as Lambert's assistant in November last year, but was still going back to Villa Park to watch the side in action.
Shay Given, Ciaran Clark and Harry Arter all featured in that game, giving the tie particular interest to the Ireland assistant manager.

Keane writes: 'I went to watch Villa against Bournemouth in the FA Cup a few weeks before Paul was sacked and Tim Sherwood was sitting behind me. I just thought, 'All right....'
'Some men go to matches if they think there's a job there for them. I believe Tim had been at two or three games.
'It's not a criticism of Tim. It's part of the game, it's the industry we're in.
'I'd go the other way myself. If I thought the manager was under pressure and I was somehow being linked to the job, I'd avoid the place.'
Sherwood has since presided over a revival in Aston Villa's form, getting the most out of players like Christian Benteke and Jack Grealish, and has also steered them to the FA Cup final.
