O Fenômeno has reportedly been taken to hospital.

Ex-footballer Ronaldo has been taken into intensive care in an Ibiza hospital, according to reports.

The former Brazil international was reportedly rushed to the Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza on Friday evening after contracting pneumonia.

A daily newspaper from the Spanish island, Diario de Ibiza, reported that he had requested a transfer to a private hospital on the same evening just before midnight. The paper quoted sources from the hospital who said he was still in intensive care but making good progress.

Nobody from the private hospital Ronaldo is now being treated at could be reached for comment, according to the Telegraph.

The former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona striker is a regular visitor of the island, where he owns a holiday home.

Ronaldo went down with dengue fever in January 2012 and posted a picture of himself on Twitter hooked up to a drip in hospital alongside the message: “Good morning to all those who began the New Year with dengue.”
