Robin van Persie has named his ideal five-a-side team in an interview with ManUtd.com and there’s a shock inclusion for Michael Carrick.
RvP was relatively conservative with his selection considering that Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata included all attackers in their five-a-sides in recent weeks.
Rooney didn’t even include a goalkeeper in his side but van Persie played it safe and stuck David de Gea between the sticks.
The Netherlands captain also gave Michael Carrick the nod due to the midfielder’s versatility in being able to play in both defence and central midfield.
From there, it’s all strikers with Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao joining the Dutchman.
The United front man also opened up on he training methods that he favours, revealing his preference for the shorter, more technical games.
“I like short games when we play four against four or five against five in short, four or five minute-games,” he said.
“We also do a lot of finishing drills – some very nice ones, especially when we work on quality finishing when, instead of doing four or five reps (repetitions) in a row, we do just one or two and then have a rest. Those drills are all based on quality and fine-tuning your moves.
“I work on my right foot, heading, runs in behind the defence and one-to-one duels to help increase my strength.”
