From one legend to another.
Football got a hell of a lot less classy this week when Damien Duff decided to call it a day on a truly remarkable career.
But Robbie Keane has done his best to maintain the standards with a touching farewell to his old partner in crime.
You think of Duff, you think of Keane. You think of a decade of this country unleashing two of the most feared attackers in Europe. You think of 2002 and you wonder why Roy just couldn’t bloody play.
But you think of Ireland’s most exciting talents inspiring generation after generation and you want nothing more than to thank them.
With the Irish legend calling time on his mouthwatering football days, it was only right for one half of the once deadly duo to pay fitting respect to “one of the greatest we’ve ever produced”.
And it’s fair to say that Robbie Keane has done his good friend well here with his goodbye message. Thank you, Damien.
It's been an absolute pleasure playing with one of my best mates for so many years! Duffer you will be truly missed!…
