Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane was in scintillating form as the Los Angeles Galaxy advanced in the MLS play-offs last night.
With injury concerns over James McCarthy and Marc Wilson ahead of Friday’s crucial Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland in Glasgow, Keane gave Ireland fans reason to be cheerful by not only surviving the 90 minutes, but delivering a goal and three assists as the Galaxy doled out a 5-0 drubbing to Real Salt Lake to advance to the Western Conference Championship.
After Landon Donovan opened the scoring, Keane made it 2-0 when he managed to stay onside before turning in Donovan’s cross.
The Dubliner then turned creator, setting up goals for Donovan and Marcelo Sarvas. He saved the best for last though, lofting this beautiful ball through to Donovan for the American to complete his hat-trick with a fine finish.
