Robbie Keane linked with vacant manager’s position at Hull City

Keane could be set to take his first managerial position.

Robbie Keane has been linked with the vacant manager’s position at Hull City, according to reports.

Hull are looking for a new manager after sacking Shota Arveladze last week.

Keane has yet to manage a team, but he is among several coaches linked with the role at the Championship side.

According to Hull Live, Keane is interested in taking the Hull City job.

Carlos Carvalhal, who managed Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City, has also been linked with the vacant position.

Former Olympiakos manager Pedro Martins is said to be in contention, as is ex-Huddersfield Town manager Carlos Corberan.

Hull, who are currently in 20th place in the Championship, and have lost five games in a row. The Tigers are reportedly seeking to make a swift appointment in an attempt to arrest their slump this season.

According to reports, Avram Grant expressed interest in the job, but Hull are unlikely to consider appointing the former Chelsea manager.

Keane, 42, has been out of football since his stint as Republic of Ireland coach under Mick McCarthy ended in 2020.

Ireland’s record goal scorer also worked as assistant manager to Jonathan Woodgate at Middlesbrough during the 2019/20 Championship season. He left the position in June 2020

Keane, who holds the Uefa Pro Licence, is understood to be keen on returning to coaching and taking a manager’s position.

The former Ireland skipper was recently linked with the manager’s position at LA Galaxy, one of his former clubs from his playing days.
