Robbie Brady explains why he failed to get a move back to the Premier League

It's dumbfounding that Robbie Brady isn't a Premier League player.

The player performed heroics for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016, starring against Sweden, Italy and France, scoring twice and impressing against the cream of European football. However, take away his displays in France last June, and the Dubliner still showed enough across his three seasons in the Premier League, with Hull City and Norwich City respectively, to confirm that he belongs in the English top flight. Yet, despite Premier League clubs spending over £1billion during the summer transfer window, Brady has remained with the Canaries in the Championship, where his class is shining through. https://twitter.com/SkySportsEFL/status/782281646061998080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Brady is currently with the Ireland squad in Dublin preparing for the World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova later this week. While the 24-year-old appears to have got over the disappointment of failing to secure a transfer back the Premier League, he hinted at the reason why mooted moves to Everton and Leicester City didn't occur. "I think the fee was quite high that Norwich were after," Brady told The Irish Independent.

"But nothing came of it in the end so that sort of stuff is out of my hands."

Norwich reportedly quoted clubs a £20m transfer fee for Brady, after paying £7m for him the previous summer. Considering the inflated transfer fees that became commonplace throughout the window, thanks to the new television deal, the fee arguably wasn't that excessive, but there were no takers. Brady sounds as though he's got over the disappointment, and is focused on getting back to the Premier League as soon as possible. Norwich are currently second in the Championship, while the next transfer window is just two months away from opening. "There's no sulking or any badness. It is what it is. I'm enjoying it, so it's all good. "I've seen people (sulk) in the past but you need to get on with it, it's your job. You can only focus on the job you have in hand. I'll try to do my best wherever I am. I want to do as well as I can. "As soon as (the transfer window) closed, that was the end of it. You can't dwell on it. I had a little bit of a chat with Martin when I came in the last time, and it was fine, he thought I might have moved but it wasn't to be."
