Rio Ferdinand compares Anthony Martial to an Arsenal striker that isn’t Thierry Henry

Or Nicklas Bendtner

By now you’ve heard, numerous times, the comparisons between Anthony Martial and Thierry Henry.

Martial is a fast, French striker, who’s arrived in English football via Monaco, and is ice-cool in-front of goal.

While Theirry Henry was a fast, French striker, who arrived in English football via Monaco (and a detour at Juventus), who was ice-cool in front of goal.

The comparison is obvious, and fits, but former Manchester Untied defender Rio Ferdinand says that Martial reminds him more of another former Arsenal striker: Nicolas Anelka.

Rio claims that Anelka, during his stint at Arsenal, was among the three toughest players he faced during his career.

“He (Anelka) didn’t want to come short,” Rio said at the UK launch of FIFA 16, “he always wanted the ball in behind where the defender didn’t want to go.”

“He had crazy pace, and was a cool finisher like Martial.”

Hopefully, for his own sake, Martial’s career trajectory doesn’t follow Anelka’s.

Ferdinand also reveals who were the best and worst FIFA players during his time at United. Apparently Darren Fletcher needs to step his game up.
