“I don’t respect you.”
It’s well known that Jamie Carragher was a boyhood Everton supporter; a diehard Bluenose who followed his team everywhere.
Even when he was signed and playing for Liverpool’s youth academy, the defender never hid where his loyalties laid.
Of course as he started to make appearances for the first team, his allegiance became fully changed, to the point where the Merseyside Derby was the game he looked forward to playing in the most, just to get one over on Everton.
So, after a career that saw him play for Liverpool over 600 times, win several trophies, and cement his name as one of the best centre backs in the club’s history, it’s fair to say that Evertonians aren’t his biggest fan.

Now a pundit for Sky Sports, the ’05 European Cup winner just can’t help but throw a dig here and there, at Everton’s expense.
Yesterday, the blue half of Merseyside managed their own version of ‘The Great Escape’ as they came back to beat Crystal Palace in a win that has secured their place in the top flight next season.
With so much on the line, the relief within Goodison Park just poured out when the final whistle went, as did the fans who flooded the field afterwards in celebration.

One Everton star however, clearly had enough of Carragher’s jibes, and at 1:37am last night, Richarlison tweeted the former Liverpool player exactly what he thought of him.
“@Carra23 wash your mouth before you talk about me and Everton, and I don’t respect you.”
Jamie Carragher doesn’t take long to respond to Richarlison’s tweet.
The Brazilian star can be known for his hotheaded temperament, and was never one to shy away on the field, so it’s no surprise that he isn’t shying away on social media.
Carragher responded in a rather calculated and well mannered fashion, quote tweeting the player and claiming that; “I actually like this, if Twitter was about when I was a player I’m sure I would’ve called pundits out quite a bit.”

No doubt there will be more to this little back and forth, because no matter what distance there is between Liverpool and Everton in the league, that rivalry will always be there.
