Revealed: How much Premier League teams’ wages increased after transfer window

Research by BOYLE Sports uk slots calculated the estimated annual wages of players arriving at and departing Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window.

Spurs committed an estimated £79.3m a year to incoming players while moving on players earning £39.1m, leaving the north London club with a £40.2m net increase - the largest in the league.

The increase was driven by arrivals including Sandro Tonali, Mykhailo Mudryk, Savio and Mateus Fernandes.

At the opposite end of the table, Manchester City recorded the league's biggest net reduction. 

Despite committing £44.2m in annual wages to new arrivals, an estimated £99.4m was removed through departures, producing a £55.2m net saving.

City brought in players including Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson and Iliman Ndiaye, while high-profile departures including Jack Grealish, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Tijjani Reijnders substantially reduced their wage commitments.

The promoted clubs also feature prominently. Coventry City (+£21.6m), Hull City (+£29.8m) and Ipswich Town (+£24.9m) all substantially increased their wage commitments as they prepare for life in the Premier League.

Coventry recorded the largest proportional change relative to outgoing wages at +800%, followed by Hull at +745% and Ipswich at +262.1%.

Elsewhere, Everton and Crystal Palace increased their wage commitments, while Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool were among the clubs to record net reductions.

Methodology

Wage figures were taken from Salary Leaks, with data accurate as of September 2nd, 2026. Some academy players didn't have their wages listed; therefore, they were left off the overall total. When it came to loans, the clubs that sealed a loan signing paid the player’s wages.

Players moving out of a club on loan for the season were defined as an outgoing wage.
