It will be John O’Shea’s final game for the national team.

The Republic of Ireland have named their team for Saturday evening’s friendly against the United States at the Aviva Stadium.

For Martin O’Neill, the game will serve as preparation for the Uefa Nations League games in the autumn against Wales and Denmark. Ireland haven’t won a game since recording a 1-0 victory over Wales in Cardiff last October. Since then, O’Neill’s team have lost to Denmark, Turkey and France, and are without a goal since Shane Duffy opened the scoring in the second-leg of the World Cup play-off against the Danes.

Like Ireland, the USA failed to qualify for this month’s World Cup and have taken an inexperienced side to Dublin for the friendly. The last time the two sides met was in November 2014 and saw Ireland record a 4-1 win at the Aviva.

The game will also act as a send-off for John O’Shea. The former Manchester United defender will make 117th and final appearance for Ireland.

Here’s the Ireland team, captained by O’Shea. Shamrock Rovers forward Graham Burke has been selected to start.
