Reports are emerging that Anthony Martial is unhappy with Zlatan Ibrahimovic replacing him as No.9

He's stopped following Manchester United on social media

Like a scorned lover, Anthony Martial has unfollowed Manchester United on social media.

Supporters noticed that the Frenchman was no longer following his employer on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday, two days after the squad numbers for the next season were confirmed.

One of the most noticeable updates was the fact that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was named as Manchester United’s No.9 while Martial was handed the No.11 jersey for the 2016/17 campaign.

While that doesn’t seem like a demotion, or anything like that, reports claim that Martial is unhappy with the decision as, apparently, the club did not consult with him about the change.

Paris-based journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, of RMC Sport, claims that the 20-year-old did not appreciate learning that his shirt number had changed via a club release.

The Facebook update referred to in the above tweet is the fact that, on Saturday afternoon, Martial changed his profile to a contemplative, black-and-white photograph of himself in the No. 9 shirt he wore throughout his debut season in England.

It would be ridiculous to jump to the conclusion that just because Martial made the above image his profile picture on Facebook that he was unhappy, but supporters were certainly worried to learn that he had unfollowed Manchester United on Twitter and Instagram.
