Reports in France suggest there’s been a major development in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester future

Interesting, very interesting

We don’t want to get anyone too excited but what the hell.

Pep Guardiola we thought was pretty much signed and sealed as the next Manchester City manager.

The current Bayern Munich boss admitted earlier this month he’d be coming to England this summer, and then tried to backtrack saying it may not be this year after all.

But that was surely only a chance to try and repair the PR damage done as it looked like he had effectively sacked Manuel Pellegrini.

No matter what he said it looked very much like the ex-Barcelona boss was going to pitch up at the Etihad from August of this year.

But wait, what’s this?

Surely not an approach from their city rivals to scupper the deal and oust Louis Van Gaal.

Well according to L’Equipe tonight, Guardiola met with officials from the club last week to discuss what we can only we assume was a move to Old Trafford.

The newspaper is reporting tonight that the 45-year-old met the club’s directors at the Hotel Bristol, in Paris,  and the talks are likely to move him a step closer to a summertime move to England.

Manchester United quickly denied the rumours but we all remember when they rejected claims that they’d spoken to Louis van Gaal when David Moyes found himself under pressure.

And look how that turned out.
