Newcastle United have taken the last roll of the dice it seems to get them out of relegation trouble.

It’s expected that Steven McClaren will be sacked later today as manager, and club owner Mike Ashley has already lined up his replacement.

McClaren’s tenure at St James’ Park has been nothing short of a disaster ,and the club have nine games to make sure they aren’t relegated.

And the man they feel can get them to the ambitious high of seventeenth place in the table just happens to be Rafa Benitez.

Reports in Spain today suggest that Benitez has agreed on a three-year-deal take over the Magpies but he may not be in place for the clash with Leicester next Monday.

Benitez’ last job in England was as interim manager of Chelsea and McClaren is expected to meet with the Newcastle board this afternoon to sort out his future, and most likely, an exit package.
