It now looks certain that Jeff Hendrick will be a Premier League player this season.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder will become Burnley’s record signing, costing £10.5m (€12.3m) from Derby County, according to The Daily Telegraph. The previous transfer record fee for the newly-promoted Premier League was Steven Defour’s £8m move from Anderlecht earlier this month.
Hendrick, who is currently on international duty ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Oman, had looked set to join Hull City for a fee in the region of €11.5m.
However, it appears Hull’s Premier League rivals have pipped them to the 24-year-old.

Burnley made two bids for Hendrick earlier this summer, but Derby refused both.
Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough and Turkish giants Galatasaray were also linked with a move for him, but the 24-year-old began the season in the Championship.
Burnley are believed to have re-entered the race to sign Hendrick last weekend, and will reportedly tie-up the deal on Wednesday.
The Dubliner joined Derby from schoolboy side St Kevin’s Boys, and went on to make 214 appearances, scoring 26 times, for the Championship club.
Hendrick wasn’t an automatic choice for the club last season, but his impressive showings at Euro 2016 looks to have helped him seal a move to the English top flight.
