Marwin Hitz thought he had committed the perfect crime.
The Swiss goalkeeper, who plays for Augsburg, was facing up to a penalty against Koln’s Anthony Modeste at the weekend.
But before the spot-kick was taken, and under the nose of the referee we may add, Hitz thought it best to try and do some ploughing of the turf with the heel of his football boot.
To his credit he realised the error of his ways and apologised on Twitter afterwards
But that apology clearly didn’t reach the aggrieved Koln groundsman, who it’s reported today sent the Augsburg ‘keeper a bill for €122 to repair the damage in order to pay for one square meter of turf and two skilled workers for two hours.
According to the Koloner Express, Hans Rütten Hitz wants the netminder to pay up for the damage,
“I’m not about the money. But a bit of punishment does not hurt. If Marwin Hitz pay, we will donate the amount of the Children’s Hospital in Amsterdam street”
And Marwin and his club have confirmed this afternoon that he will indeed pay for his crime
His club have also responded this afternoon, and said they will send their own lawnmower to help with the repair and that they will also donate money to the children’s hospital as requested
Zur Berichterstattung der angekündigten Rechnung der Kölner Sportstätten GmbH an Marwin #Hitz spielen wir den Doppelpass…

The translation:
For the reporting of the announcement from the the account of the Cologne Sports Groundsman to Marwin Hitz we play the dual passport back!
Marwin Hitz: ” if the bill with a wink, I’m gonna like this after the receipt of payment, even if I believe that our green keepers the penalty spot faster had repaired! I am grateful but for the proposal of the donations goal. I would like to be my annual donation, which I have for years out of conviction bar, to the children’s hospital in the Amsterdam street in cologne.”
Also the #fca is of the opinion that the repair work no two hours. To support the FC Augsburg Cologne Stadium-Chief Hans Rütten, therefore, in the next few days, a lawn mower of the FCA-Partners Al-ko. This also with a wink.
