Real Madrid seal deal for new goalkeeper and it’s not David de Gea

Sounds like Iker...

Arriving as back-up or as the new number one?

It appears to be moving season for goalkeepers.

Already this morning, we reported on proposed moves for Victor Valdes and David Ospina while noted that several Spanish media outlets are insisting David de Gea will leave Manchester United.

It had seemed a matter of course for de Gea to make the move back to Madrid and line out for Los Blancos next season.

Louis van Gaal has dug his heels in, however, and Valdes leaving for Turkey would only strengthen the belief of United fans that their first choice goalkeeper may be sticking around.

Those same fans will be thrilled, then, to hear Real have all but secured the transfer of Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla. Spanish newspaper AS state that personal terms have been secured between player and club.

The 28-year-old is a graduate of the Real academy and the club still own 50% of his contract.

He has a €20m release clause in his contract so Rafa Benitez’ side would only have to stump up €10m to get Casilla in the door.
