What the hell?

That’s an incredible fee for a 16-year-old.

Real Madrid are set to pay €40m for a 16-year-old Brazilian, according to Spanish media outlet Marca.

Vinicius Jr. is a forward for Flamengo, but will reportedly join Madrid next summer, when he becomes eligible for a professional contract.

The Spanish club are said to have competition for Vinicius from Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

However, Madrid moved quickly to ensure they didn’t miss out on the talented youngster. They reportedly invited him and his family to a match at the Bernabeu and showed them around the club’s training ground.

The forward turns 17 in July, and will remain at Flamengo until the end of next season. Marca claim that Vinicius will go straight into Madrid’s first-team.

Hopefully it works out better for him at Madrid than their last big money wonderkid, Martin Odegaard, who’s currently on-loan at Heerenveen in the Netherlands.
