Rangers fans are furious at iPhone’s Siri

Touchy subject...

Robert Redmond

It’s a touchy subject.

Rangers fans aren’t happy with iPhone’s Siri program.

The voice-activated, virtual personal assistant can answer user’s questions, and has angered fans of the Scottish club by telling them their club is just four years old.

The issue is a very touchy subject with Rangers supporters. Fans of rival clubs, particularly Celtic, insist that Rangers were formed in 2012, rather 1872.

A new holding company, Sevco Scotland Limited, began trading on December 19 2012, after Rangers went into liquidation.

When asked the question, Siri responds: “The answer is Wednesday, December 19, 2012.”

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers fans aren’t happy with the answer, and Apple have declined to comment on the story. However, “a source close to the firm” said: “It’s not a deliberate attempt to deceive or mislead.”

“If you ask Siri when ‘Glasgow’ Rangers was founded it presents you with links to sites including Wikipedia that references the 1872 date.”

Something tells us it wasn’t a Rangers fan who originally asked the question.

This should make for some top quality “banter” between Celtic and Rangers fans next season when they resume their rivalry in Scotland’s top flight.
