That old Louis magic again
Raheem Sterling is going to be the big summer transfer saga.
It looks very unlikely that he will be at Liverpool next season despite what Brendan Rodgers says.
More than likely he will be staying in the Premier League, and that means there are only a few clubs that could possibly afford his wage demands.
Liverpool fans seem to have accepted he will leave, but may find a move to the club’s biggest rivals hard to swallow if reports tonight prove accurate.
No player has moved between Manchester United and Liverpool since 1964, with the most recent proposed move of Gabriel Heinze being spiked by Alex Ferguson.
But that might be about to change this summer, as reports tonight suggest Sterling is interested in a switch to Old Trafford and his motivation revolves around one man.
According to The Guardian tonight the England speedster would love to work under Louis van Gaal and he could be a massive factor in any possible switch
“Raheem Sterling is open to a move to Manchester United, although the player is concerned how the transfer would be received given the fierce rivalry between the clubs.”
“The Liverpool winger is aware of United’s interest and would be keen to explore joining and working under Louis van Gaal.”
“Van Gaal is an admirer of Sterling’s pace and willingness to try and to beat opponents and break a game open. The manager’s preferred formation is 4-3-3 and Sterling has shown he can play in any position across the front, and as a No10.”
“This flexibility is another attraction for Van Gaal, and the Dutchman is also keen to work with young players who possess immense potential he can develop, as Sterling does.”
A move from Old Trafford would surely alert other clubs, but if the player wants to move to one particular destination there is little that Anfield chiefs could do to stand in his way.
