This isn’t the first time the club have called a meeting to discuss Benitez’ future. Perez was forced to call a press conference following the 4-0 defeat to bitter rivals Barcelona in November.
Free agent José Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane are among the names being linked to the job should Benitez lose his job.
Real Madrid are currently four points adrift of La Liga leaders Atlético Madrid, in third place and recently scored a huge 10-2 win over Real Vallecano 10-2 a fortnight ago.
