It looks like Rafa Benitez is on the brink of losing his job, with some outlets reporting he already has.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has reportedly called for an extraordinary meeting to the discuss Benitez’ future at the club.

Sunday night’s 2-2 draw with Gary Neville’s Valencia appears to have caused Perez to call the meeting with the club set to confirm news from the meeting at 5.30pm Spanish time, 4.30pm GMT. Spanish publication AS are reporting that Benitez has already been fired, while Madrid-based outlet Marca are claiming he’s on the brink of losing his job.

This isn’t the first time the club have called a meeting to discuss Benitez’ future. Perez was forced to call a press conference following the 4-0 defeat to bitter rivals Barcelona in November.

Free agent José Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane are among the names being linked to the job should Benitez lose his job.

Real Madrid are currently four points adrift of La Liga leaders Atlético Madrid, in third place and recently scored a huge 10-2 win over Real Vallecano 10-2 a fortnight ago.
