9 reasons why QPR really should have appointed Tim Sherwood

This is disappointing. Really disappointing

Sean Nolan

He would have livened up Match of the Day if nothing else

We couldn’t have been happier when the bookies made Tim Sherwood an almost unbackable  favourite for the QPR job. Pound for pound Sherwood provided more entertainment than any other manager during his short stint in charge at Spurs last season.

But now it seems that QPR are going in a different direction with Tony Fernandes tweeting that they are close to appointing Harry Redknapp’s successor, and it’s now who everyone expected (i.e – Sherwood).

Names such as Michael Laudrup and Eddie Howe have been mentioned, but here are nine reasons why the R’s are wrong to look past the man they call ‘Tactics Tim’

1. No one else delivers searingly honest quotes like this

‘I couldn’t tell you my best team, and I don’t know whether that’s good or bad. I have assessed the players more than anyone and I could not tell you the best 11 at Tottenham. They are all so similar; much of a muchness regarding quality.’

2. Or this…

‘You can’t legislate for the capitulation – you can’t have that. Lack of characters, too many of them too nice to each other. You need to show a bit more guts and not want to be someone’s mate all the time.’

3. Because of pictures like this

Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland - Premier League

4. And this…

Stoke City v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

5. When he loses the head he does so in spectacular fashion

6. But he provides fan interaction like no other manager

7. Because of bizarro, kinda scary moments like this

8. He has no time for gloating

9. And because we’ve been denied the return of the infamous gilet
Tottenham Hotspur FC v SL Benfica - UEFA Europa League Round of 16
