“Don’t even start.”
Making predictions about the transfer market is always a risk, as it could end up making one look very foolish. For example, all logic pointed towards Liverpool selling Philippe Coutinho in the summer, rather than in January. The player had four years left on his contract at Anfield, he was cup-tied for Barcelona’s European games and they didn’t need him to win the league, as they’re nine points clear at the top of the table.
Why would Liverpool sell Coutinho now, and risk disrupting their season? And why would Barcelona push to sign him in January when they don’t really need him to achieve their goals for the rest of the campaign? Well, Coutinho is now a Barcelona player, and the second most expensive player in history after his £142m move, and anyone who tried to apply logic to the situation was left looking a bit foolish.
However, it’s possible to say with absolute certainty that Liverpool are not about to sign Antoine Griezmann. No chance.
The Atletico Madrid forward has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, and looks certain to be on the move this summer. Barcelona are understood to be the front-runners to sign him, and the Catalan club will reportedly pay £89m for the 26-year-old. Atletico are so pissed off with their rival’s public courting of the Griezmann, they have even threatened to report them to Fifa.
It looks like he will join Barcelona in the summer. Yet, for some reason, Liverpool are “favourites” with Sky Bet to sign the French forward this month. Jurgen Klopp’s side have odds of 7/2 with the bookmakers to secure a transfer for the player before the window closes. So, if you place a €10 bet on the transfer happening, you will lose €10.
Some Liverpool fans are correctly calling bullshit on any suggestion that they are about to sign Griezmann this month.
We're not getting Griezmann – don't even start

Who started the Griezmann to Liverpool rumour? Sky UK. Who also runs a betting agency? Sky UK. What a bunch a knobs they are. How many idiots would believe that and be placing bets with SkyBet?
— Roar MMA (@RoarObsession) January 12, 2018
Sky shouldn't be allowed to be a provider of news, run a sports channel and have a betting company. It's criminal surely, a serious misleading of customers. Look how many mugs will now be putting bets on Griezmann to #LFC and lose their money while Sky get richer. Get wise people
