Porn and gambling might see a Premier League flop being deported from China

Paul Moore

That old chestnut.

When it comes to adverts that feature footballers, the results have been extremely varied.

For every amazing adventure that features the Honey Monster and Kevin Keegan, there’s always the risk of seeing Joe Hart miraculously recovering from injury thanks to some carefully applied Head and Shoulders.

Christ, we’ll need one of those Men in Black memory-erasing gadgets to forget that one.

Much like Paulinho’s disappointing spell at White Hart Lane, a recent photo shoot that the Brazilian was involved in to promote an Asian betting company didn’t exactly go according to plan.

After his awful time at Spurs,  the midfielder moved to the Chinese Super League and joined Guangzhou Evergrande where his form has improved – he notched 11 goals last year and already has 3 this season – but his time in China could be coming to an abrupt end.

How?

Well, it appears that Paulinho was unaware that gambling is officially illegal under Chinese law and to compound matters, he was pictured alongside the Japanese porn star Tsukasa Aoi during the photo shoot.

Yep, you guessed it. Porn is also illegal in China.

Given the fact that he has broken two laws, there’s the possibility that the Brazilian will be deported from the country.

This being said, we’re confident that the authorities will probably just give him a minor slap on the rest. Isn’t that how the legal system works when you’re rich and famous?

Anyway, if Paulinho has to find a new club, he’ll have no problems securing a move elsewhere, especially since he has been a regular pick for Brazil and was included in the seleção’s recent squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay.
