The whole idea behind a brand sponsoring the kit of a football team is that it gets the name out there.
Not only is the logo visible for all to see when players don the jersey in front of a television audience but it can be seen in cities all over the world with fans wearing their club shirt.
That’s why it’s somewhat surprising to learn that you can order the new Celtic top, which we must concede is pretty decent, with or without the sponsor.
It costs €66.25 to order the Hoops’ jersey for the 2015-16 season with the logo of their sponsor, Magners, emblazoned across the front.
But, for the lager drinkers who are vehemently anti-cider, it will cost the exact same to get a sponsorless kit.
Now we have to decide which is nicer because we can’t bloody afford both. Thanks a lot Celtic.
