Twitter was not impressed by Manchester United’s deadline day signing

Old Trafford beat Plymouth Argyle to signature of Andy Kellet

Not exactly the big name that Manchester United fans were hoping for

Transfer deadline day turned into a pretty disappointing affair for most top Premier League clubs. There was very little big money signings for Jim White to exercise his vocal chords about, or to get his yellow tie in a knot over.

Before the window closed it was expected that Louis Van Gaal might make a late bid for a centre-half like Mats Hummels, just to tighten up what has been an obvious weak point for the club.

Instead, the club, according to various sources, beat off the mighty Plymouth Argyle to sign Andy Kellett, an unknown defender from Bolton on loan. He may not have  a high profile but he does have an eye for spectacular goals, such as this beauty against Northampton.

Ok,so it’s his only league goal and the reaction to signing the 21 year old has not exactly been off-the scale delirium on social media.

It’s very unlikely that he will even get near the first team, but that hasn’t stopped  fans and others making hay on Twitter.

Fans probably have a right to be a tad sceptical considering he’s only played four games for Bolton and spent three months at Plymouth before Monday’s move:
