This gentleman takes his defensive responsibilities to a whole new level.
CD Cuarte captain Daniel Nadales went all out as he attempted to keep the ball out of the net during a corner kick from opponents CD Teruel in Spain’s fourth tier recently.
While Nadales’ teammates were busy looking at team shape and tactical positioning ahead of the game, the Cuarte skipper was likely having a cheeky watch of Tarzan on his smartphone.
As Teruel swung in the set piece, Nadales was suddenly compelled to climb the upright in an action that has since earned him the nickname “El Koala.”
“It was a corner. We were defending and the attacking team were very tall,” Nadales told TN.
“The only way I could think to jump higher was to grab the post.
“It was spontaneous. I did not repeat it in the match. Afterwards I read the rules and now I know they can punish you for doing that.
“My teammates have taken it very well but they say I was crazy (to try it).”
