Fifa have released a snapshot of the voting for the Puskas Award, and it looks like Stephanie Roche’s main competition will come from South America.
The former Peamount United striker’s superb strike made yesterday’s cut to three finalists, alongside goals from the World Cup by Dutch forward Robin van Persie and Colombian star James Rodriguez.
But figures released by Fifa this morning show social media traffic to the organisation’s website from Colombia and Ireland running almost neck and neck yesterday in the run-up to the announcement of the finalists.
