PIC: Dublin football club has an interesting way to motivate its U12’s for a cup game

They probably watch Braveheart on the bus too

Evergreen of Kilkenny never had a chance

When adults play sport it’s all about winning and at any cost, but for kids it’s meant to be a little different. As a nipper growing up you’re meant to be all about fair play and enjoying the game, and not worrying too much about the result. Jumpers for goalposts kinda stuff, you know.

But if you’re a serious football club that has produced the likes of Damien Duff and Joey O’Brien in recent years then results are clearly a more serious business.

Lourdes Celtic are one of the top club sides not only in Dublin but the entire country, and their U12’s were due to head down to Kilkenny on Saturday for a clash with Evergreen in the SFAI U12 competiton.

Ahead of the game the club put a special message on their Facebook to really motivate the 10 and 11 year old’s for victory against their Kilkenny opposition.

It clearly worked too as they recorded a 1-0 win with a late goal to progress to the next round.
Football in Dublin, especially at U12 level is clearly taken very very seriously indeed.
