There are no prizes for guessing which club dominated the team of the year, especially because it’s mentioned in the headline.
Six Chelsea players made the Best XI for the Premier League this season. Sharpshooter Diego Costa, playmaker Eden Hazard, defensive rock Nemanja Matic all made the team while John Terry, Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic comprised three-quarters of the defensive line.
Despite the Blues’ dominance, it can be argued that they had one noticeable absence from the team of the year. Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas missed out on spot in the lineup even though he has racked up more league assists than any other player in the division this season.
However, his dip in form in the second half of the season could be the reason why Liverpool’s Coutinho and Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal got in ahead of him.
