Scary
Every so often something happens that puts our obsession with sport into perspective, and makes us realise that Bill Shankly was wrong-sport isn’t a matter of life or death.
No matter how bad your team does or how disappointed you may be then there is almost always another day to try and turn it around.
We’re keeping that in mind tonight as we learn that a 24-year-old footballer in Belgium has allegedly suffered a heart-attack on the pitch.
Reports this evening suggest that 24 year old Lokeren defender Gregory Mertens suffered a cardiac arrest while on the pitch during an U21 game tonight.
It’s believed that he was resuscitated while on the pitch with a defibrillator and is now in hospital.
