If you have been even paying the slightest bit of attention to football in Scotland, you’ll know that the battle for ownership of Rangers is one of the biggest running stories for quite a while now.
With Newcastle owner Mike Ashley battling a few other groups for control of the club, the story is more complicated than doing a Rubik’s Cube in the dark but it seems that a proposed loan from Ashley to the club could mean he gains effective control at Ibrox ahead of a group known as the ‘Three Bears’.
Using that name, plus an allusion to the sometime nickname of Rangers as the ‘Teddy Bears’ the Daily Record have come up with an early contender for sports headline of the year.
