We sold Coutinhooooooo.
Philippe Coutinho was shown the “Salah! / Oh Mane Mane! / Bobby Firmino/ And we sold Coutinho!” chant yesterday by a reporter and, as it turns out, he really isn’t a fan.
Which is not exactly surprising, considering that the song finishes on an elongated note of sheer jubilation because of the fact that Liverpool managed to rinse Barcelona Football Club for £142 million for the player in question. AND they still have that front three. No wonder they are so happy and they want to world to know.
The now-famous tune is sung to the impossibly catchy The Archies 1969 hit ‘Sugar, Sugar’ and Coutinho was shown the song after Brazil’s 1-0 win against Germany in Berlin last night, and was promptly asked whether he liked the song.
A resounding “No” was his answer, along with a shake of the head and a dramatic enough exit to make a WWE wrestler proud.
To be honest, the Barcelona forward isn’t giving credit where credit is due here. The chant is a masterpiece and he should at least acknowledge the real craft and work behind it. And just not pull this face:
He honestly looks as though he is about to cry. It’s not all about you, mate. You wanted to leave remember. There is no need to be upset.
If, unlike Philippe, you want to meet the genius behind it, and he is a genius, just check out the video below.
No wait. Sorry. Not him. This is the actual guy. Sorry.
