It’s not Mignolet.
Given that a Manchester United team without Zlatan Ibrahimovic is about as threatening as a cuddly bunny, it’s obvious that there’s a lack of a goalscoring threat when the Swede isn’t around.
Their recent draw against West Brom was their 11th in the league this season – 8 of those draws have came at home – and despite the fact that they’ve got the joint-second best defence in the league, United have been painfully shy in front of goal.
Mourinho’s men have only scored 42 times, that’s 22 goals fewer than the league’s top scorers, Liverpool.
Former Manchester United, Everton and England defender Phil Neville took part in a Twitter Q&A this morning and some of his answers were quite interesting, especially when asked a hypothetical question about which Liverpool player he would like to see playing at Old Trafford the most.
As you can see via his Twitter timeline, we now know that Phil wants Luke Shaw to stay at Manchester United but the defender “has to want it!”, Zidane is the best player that Neville played against, Suits is his favourite TV show and that Phil rates Jaap Stam over Nemanja Vidic. Controversial!
When asked “are there any players you’d take at United that play for Liverpool? Who and why?”, the BBC pundit didn’t opt for the goalscoring/creative talents of Coutinho, Firmino, Mane or even a fully fit Sturridge.
Manchester United and Liverpool fans, what do you make of Neville’s choice?
