What a hero.
Typically, at the final home fixture of the season, teams will do a lap of honour and applaud the fans. And ok, a sixth place finish for Manchester United might not be the biggest thing to celebrate (though there might a Europa League trophy to come) – but for one young United fan it seemed to be a special day.
Mum Claire Woods’ son got Phil Jones’ shirt after their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace today. What should have been a brilliant moment for him was ruined however, after an older kid kicked him and stole the shirt.
Claire tweeted about the incident, with a photo of her distraught son.

But the story has a happy ending – Phil Jones himself saw the tweet, and replied. He told Claire to DM him, and he sort her son out with another shirt.

@PhilJones4 @ManUtd That’s amazing. Thank you. I’ve followed you. It’ll make his day, he’s still heartbroken about it.

Well done, Phil.
