With Pep Guardiola confirmed as the new Manchester City manager from the start of next season, we’re still no closer to discovering if he’ll be joined in Manchester by old foe Jose Mourinho.

The former Chelsea boss has been linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the season, but there’s still no signs from the club that Louis van Gaal will end his three-year deal 12 months early.

But the thought of Mourinho taking his place in the home dugout at Old Trafford has reportedly got the Bayern Munich boss looking over his shoulder.

According to The Sun, Guardiola is ‘spooked’ by the thought of renewing his rivalry with Mourinho, and has asked friends to find out if he is set to take charge of United.

“Pep wants to know if Mourinho has an agreement with Manchester United,” the friend told the Sun.

“Is he worried? Not really, but it will make life interesting if Jose is there.”

Louis van Gaal’s fate should be decided in the coming weeks, with many suggesting that he needs to return the club to the Champions League if he is to remain in charge.
