Paul Pogba’s brother, Mathias Pogba, has been denied the opportunity to join German minnows Uerdingen due to issues regarding his weight.
Mathias Pogba, the older brother of Manchester United’s record signing, has been rejected by the German third-tier side for being too heavy.
The 27-year-old, who plays as a forward, has been told that his services will not be required at Uerdingen for the season ahead.
The Guinea international was most recently contracted to Sparta Rotterdam and had been training with Uerdingen in their preseason preparations but remains without a club after being told that he is not quite in the requisite condition.
“He’s been and gone. Mathias couldn’t help the team, he is currently not in good physical shape,” Uerdingen coach Stefan Kraemer told German outlet Bild.
Pogba had been struggling with an injury last year and it sounds like he’s not quite returned to full fitness.
“Mathias has a good body for a nine, he is tall. But he still has too many kilos on his hips,” Kraemer added.
Pogba’s twin brother, Florentin, is also a professional footballer and he currently plays for Gençlerbirliği in Turkey.
Paul Pogba, meanwhile, looks destined to stay at Old Trafford after Barcelona’s director admitted that they wouldn’t be following up their reported interest in the recent World Cup winner.
