Paul Pogba might leave Man Utd. No, *really* this time

Simon Lloyd

Paul Pogba could actually be leaving Manchester United again

Well, who saw this coming, eh? Another transfer window, *another* round of Paul-Pogba-might-be-leaving-Manchester-United transfer rumours.

But seriously, as much as we’ve all become accustomed to this happening at least twice a year since Pogba re-signed for United in 2016, this time it might actually happen.

The French midfielder has had a contract offer of around £350,000-a-week on the table for a while now and, according to The Mirror, has rejected it as he eyes a new challenge elsewhere.

With a year left to run on his current deal, it’s highly likely United will want to cash in now than let him leave on a free next summer.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, United are said to be open to letting him leave in the next few weeks if the right offer arrives.

Whereas he’s frequently been linked with Real Madrid and a return to Juventus, his most likely destination now appears to be Paris Saint-Germain, who have reportedly earmarked Pogba as a priority signing ahead of the new campaign. United are said to want £50m.

Having returned to United five years ago, Pogba has failed to live up to expectations for his club. Despite moments of brilliance, consistency has been a problem.

He looked likely to leave after falling out with Jose Mourinho in 2018, but was convinced to stay following the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer will hope to be able to reinvest any fee they receive for Pogba, thought with Jadon Sancho all but confirmed and Raphael Varane also appearing close to a switch to Old Trafford, this may not sit well with the clubs owners.

But please, can Paul Pogba just leave now? There’s only so many times we can write up virtually the same transfer story in his life without it actually happening. Make this the last time.
